In case of a wine, blood or other type of stain on a hand made rug, follow these simple instructions immediately and call or email us to have your rug picked up by one of our professionals.

Blood or Wine

Do not rub the stain since this will spread it over a larger area. Instead, blot with even pressure into the center of the stain. Spray club soda on the stain immediately in order to keep the stain from setting into the fibers. Do not use commercial cleaning products containing enzymes or strong chemicals made for wall-to-wall carpets since this may permanently damage the rug.

Dog & pet stain

Dog and pet stains actually change the chemical composition of wool and actually burn the fibers on a chemical scale. Most pet stains cannot be removed. However, if the stain is recent, try to remove as much urine as possible by diluting it with club soda and blotting it. Call us immediately to schedule a pick up.

Moth damage

Moth larvae consume wool on the rug where there is little or no traffic. Vacuum the rug regularly, especially areas that are under furniture or that received little traffic. Periodic regular cleaning is recommended to mitigate moth damage.

Fringe damage

Our expert restoration team can repair damaged fringes and areas of the rug that has been damaged. The “Castillo de Chapultepec”, Mexico City’s legendary castle, trusts no one but Odabashian to maintain it’s museum-grade rugs.

In 1780 , the Viceroy Matías Gálvez started the construction of a residence at the top of Chapultepec Hill, that would later become a Military School. During the American invasion of 1847, it was one of the last bastions that resisted in Mexico City. Later, in the 1860’s, the emperor Maximilian of Hapsburg arranged this site as his residence because he was captivated by the beautiful views of the Valley of Mexico that could be appreciated from that place; he beautified the castle by adding gardens and sophisticated interior decoration and communicated Chapultepec Castle with the Historical Centre by creating a Parisian style boulevard, which is now the renowned Reforma Avenue With the passing years the Castle became the home of all of Mexico’s presidents until, in 1940, Lázaro Cárdenas donated it to the nation so it could become the National History Museum.

The National History Museum has entrusted all repair, maintenance and cleaning of it’s collection’s hand-made rugs and tapestries to Odabashian since 1935.
